Additional Netgear WPN824NA Wireless Mimo Router Information

NETGEAR's RangeMax™ Wireless Router eliminates dead spots and delivers up to 10 times more wireless coverage and speed than standard 802.11g. Customers will enjoy high speed Internet access everywhere in their homes – not just when they are situated close to their wireless router. RangeMax uses 7 internal smart antennas to survey the home environment for walls, furniture, and interference and automatically adjust to compensate for these performance blockers. For example, if you carry your laptop from the family room to the bedroom, RangeMax automatically senses the change and selects from over 100 possible antenna configurations to deliver you the fastest, clearest connection! RangeMax MIMO (Multi-In, Multi-Out) technology is 100% compatible with 802.11b, 802.11g, and Super G® devices, and provides legacy 802.11b/g clients with up to 50% improvement in range and speed. With the RangeMax Wireless Network, you have the longest range of any wireless device on the market today - up to 10 times the wireless coverage of 802.11g. So you'll have a sizzling-fast, consistent connection in every room of your house and beyond. Range Matters: RangeMax adjusts to the interference and physical barriers in your home, and delivers up to 500,000 square feet of coverage - 1000% more than 802.11g. And you don't need to throw away your old wireless devices; RangeMax is 100% compatible with your existing 802.11b/g products and will boost their range and speed by up to 50%. Simple, Safe, Secure: NETGEAR's SmartWizard makes the set-up easy and hassle-free. SmartWizard automatically detects your ISP's network settings, then walks you through each step of the installation process. It's like having your own computer technician, right by your side. NETGEAR also ensures that every computer user in your home network is protected from intruders by using: a double firewall, WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy), and WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access, Pre-Shared Key) Security.

What Customers Say About Netgear WPN824NA Wireless Mimo Router:

but, stupid blinking light is annoying as he** and the strength is not great for me (apartment building - 55 units). i thought this was supposed to be better than it is. no major problems. It is slower than my land connection was when 2 people are using. it's ok - just not what i expected.

OUT-GOING FTP DOES NOT WORK. Well the Xbox wireless adapter will not work with the wireless N routers and only certain G routers, this Netgear RangeMax being one. I had a perfectly good Linksys wired router but my family wanted wireless, particularly my son, the Xbox Live player. Tech support is unresponsive. Bought and installed and Xbox Live was working great BUT as a webmaster, I could no longer upload files to working web servers - Winsock error #10061. I checked the router setup and no services were blocked, fellow webmaster with different routers could ftp to those same web servers. Google this router and FTP problems and you will find many unhappy, former owners. It gets returned today.

I said search for access points and found ours. Got home, opened it, and followed the instructions and was fine untill it said that we didn't the wires wern't connected right. So, we called back and good a guy who could hardly speak english. So we called Netgear and they helped us get passed that.

It said on both that it couldn't connect. I thought that we were good to go. I turned on our Wii and tried to get the Wi-Fi on it so we could get some good channels. We bought this router today because we needed one for our stuff. So we got mad and hung up. Then I got my Nintendo DS and tried it on there and said that the security features didn't support the security.

We told him about it so he had us change our WEP code and do more stuff. We tried it again on the Wii and DS.

We tried it on a laptop but said the firewall kept me from using the Wi-Fi. So we tried it 3 more times and still said it.

We told him that and he said "Mr. I clicked on it, put in the WEP code and it said testing connection.

Then an error code showed up on the screen, we tried several more times and still said the error code. Clark, I'm not a Wii expert" and I said this doesn't have to do with the Wii.

I do not recomend this piece of junk.

Did speed testing, and all my speeds were a fraction of what my speed was when I connected straight to the cable modem. First.did not work.only had like 10% signal strenght. I bought this so that my kids PS3 could connect wirelessly and they could play online. So, I went out and bought a D-Link Xtreme Gaming Router, and man, could you tell the difference. Heck, I had a stronger signal (30%) from my NEIGHBOR'S wireless network. Ended up hooking the PS3 up via ethernet and then it would frag out whenever someone was on the internet while someone else was playing the PS3. Paid a lot more, but worth every penny.none of the issues above reappeared with the new router. I reviewed the D-link as well on its product page.Summary: skip over this.go D-Link if you have a gamer.

I have three of these at various locations, they replaced D-Link and Linksys products. These units are easy to set up and maintain, have excellent range and signal strength, and are the best on the market as far as I'm concerned.
